Update, or, "Man, I'm a Crappy Blogger"

Like I said, I've never even been good at journaling. Josh has to go back to school tomorrow (he's a high school math teacher), so we've been busy bees fixing some stuff around the house.

Plus, working third shift full time as a CNA and part time four afternoons a week means that my life has become a series of naps. It isn't ideal, but I'm trying to do whatever it takes to get to grad school. More on that later.

But first, an update.

We adopted a new puppy we named Ruby. She's a mutt from the Rowan County Animal Shelter in Salisbury, NC.

She's about six months old, weighs 25 pounds, and is way more mellow than our three year old lab, Bailey.

If you're in NC and are thinking about adopting a dog or cat, please consider the Rowan County shelter. Dogs and cats are quarantined for three days before they're available for adoption. Dogs have 7-10 and cats have 3 days to be adopted before they're euthanized.

Adopt, don't shop!

I cut my hair. I'd had long hair for few years, first for softball and then for the wedding. Thanks to
Nicole DeStefano (the woman responsible for making me prettier on our wedding day) I was able to donate around eight inches to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, a charity that provides wigs for women with cancer, FOR FREE. I flippin' love everything about it...pixie fo' life!

Part of my part time job is managing a self-storage facility. It doesn't require a lot of brain power. I pretty much run the books and call people when their rent is late. But it has its perks! A few weeks ago, a renter moved out and left a bunch of junk in our dumpster (which is a big no-no!). Curiosity got the best of me, and I went snooping. I was fortunate enough to rescue these awesome antiques from their stinky future in the landfill!

The chair is being transformed into a planter by my lovely friend, Cass (who will probably get her own post at some point). The pineapple "Welcome" milk jug is sitting by our front door. I don't plan on repainting it... the rust gives it character! I haven't decided what to do with the coal scuttle. We have gas logs, unfortunately.

I'll be sharing a few of my #hudginsathome projects in upcoming posts. Instagram is my preferred method of sharing what's going on in my life, because I'm a very visual person. If you'd like to keep up with me there, you can find me @hayleyjayneee. I promise I don't post a lot of food pictures, unless I made it myself.

  1. You could put dried flowers in the coal thing, scented pine cones, or pretty shells.
